On Saturday 17th February, Documation supported Repair Café, Winchester with their workshop at the Sound Winchester Launch Event.
The Launch Day was resounding success!! A packed program of events held at The Arc, formerly Winchester Discovery Centre the centre for live performance, library and community services, art, classes and talks, all under one roof in the heart of Winchester.
Sound Winchester is a celebration of the diverse and vibrant range of creative musical talent based in the town. Collectively it aims to improve wellbeing from the making and showcasing of music and voice activities. It is a project initiated by Winnall Rock School with grant funding from Youth Music, Winchester City Council and the Lottery Community Fund.
This launch is part of the build-up for the first Winchester Community Music Festival which takes place on 21 June. It is hoped this launch will not only introduce the Winchester community to the varied musical opportunities and talent on their doorstep, but also attract more groups to join the Sound Winchester collective.
The Repair Café stand at Sound Winchester showcased the skills of the volunteers in repairing musical instruments and music related items such as PA systems, music stands and more. John Wallace, Documation CEO, hosted a presentation in the Learning Room at The Arc and talked to visitors about how the Repair Café Winchester works, how to book a repair and offered opportunities for volunteers to get involved.
Repair Café Winchester attendance at the event was a great success, attracting more people to reduce waste by bringing items to the Café to be repaired and raising awareness of the huge range of items they can help with from Dolls to Dysons and from Dresses to Double Basses.
