Food Waste Action Week 2025

For the third consecutive year, Documation is proud to take part in Food Waste Action Week.

Food Waste Action Week helps households develop the tools they need to cut food waste at home. This year’s theme is ‘Buy Loose, Waste Less’, continuing to focus on raising awareness of the benefits of buying loose fruit and veg. The campaign will run from Monday 17th to Sunday 23rd March.

WRAP is a climate action NGO working around the globe to tackle the causes of the climate crisis and give the planet a sustainable future. WRAP’s research has identified the potential to reduce household food waste by removing the packaging on uncut fresh fruit and veg, enabling us to buy closer to our needs as well as the ‘bonus’ benefit of eliminating a significant amount of unnecessary packaging.

Food waste costs the average household of four around £1,000 every year. Food Waste Action Week will help shoppers to save money and reduce waste by encouraging them to buy loose produce. With food waste relating to 8-10% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, this campaign aligns with Documation’s ESG initiatives and its commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2030.

We are delighted to be supporting WRAP again this year and have a series of blogs, quizzes and recipe ideas to help our team do their bit to reduce waste along with the added bonus of saving money too! Sustainability is a the heart of everything we do at Documation and being able to show our support for Food Waste Action Week is an important part of our ESG strategy.

Documation will contribute to the campaign using the hashtag #FoodWasteActionWeek, sharing content on our social media channels throughout the week that supports the ‘Buy Loose, Waste Less’ theme. The Documation team will receive a daily tip on each day of Food Waste Action Week which highlights the benefits of buying loose fruit and vegetables. We also encourage our team to share tips and recipes to reduce food waste at home on our dedicated sustainability Microsoft Teams channel.
