This month Documation will take up residence in new offices in Southampton Town Centre following over 10 years in Eastleigh.
The iconic industrial buildings that housed Documation HQ will no longer be home for the Documation Team. After a prolonged process of searching, the Relocation Team, headed by COO Alan Farrell, were delighted to select the White Building, located just 5 mins walk from Southampton Central train station. This landmark building has recently been refurbished and benefits from a generous lobby, a selection of conference rooms and the team’s dedicated office having natural light with opening windows to minimise the need for air conditioning and improve the air quality, circulation and oxygen levels. Live planting further increases the air quality and provides a calming work environment.
The list of Documation’s requirements was decided through a number of team surveys, and included options such as showers, bike storage, proximity to shops, bars and restaurants, gym access and more. Also high on the priority list, as part of our target to be Net Zero by 2030, was sustainability. The White Building is powered by renewable energy and has a fleet of bikes for the residents to use to get around town. All the team will be encouraged to make use of our Cycle to Work scheme, and there are plenty of public transport options to reduce the need to drive to work.
Southampton City Council also have an e-scooter initiative with pick-up/drop-off points nearby, making access to Southampton Common a short ride away. The Common is 365 acres of parkland, woodland, rough grassland, ponds, wetlands, lakes and is a much loved and well used green open space on the edge of the city. The diverse habitats support an amazing abundance and variety of wildlife and in 1988 most of Southampton Common was designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Access to the quayside and Ocean Village is also made easy and the team are looking forward to lunchtime and evenings by the water or in the park after a day in the office.
The move to a central location with fantastic public transport links, open spaces and local community initiatives to be embraced, coinciding with state of the art technology reflects Documation’s philosophy of continuing improvement and growth. We want the best for our Documation Family, and by securing this we know we can continue to perform at our best for our customers.
